When inspired to start a neighborhood vegetable garden, do not run to your neighbors' house excitedly and knock on their front door, after dark - holding a shovel.
It will terrify them.
And they will call the police.
And they probably won't want to join your gardening adventure even if you do explain to them that the shovel was just a means of illustrating the excitement that gardening can potentially provide.
And their kids will probably egg your house.
